R&D Systems®

R&D Systems now offers Cell-Based Infrared ELISA kits that utilize LI-COR® IRDye® 800CW-conjugated and IRDye 680LT-conjugated secondary antibodies that are compatible with the LI-COR Odyssey® Infrared Imaging System. These ELISA kits are used for measuring protein phosphorylation or total protein levels in whole, fixed cells, eliminating the need for lysate preparation.

The R&D Systems Proteome Profiler Antibody Arrays allow for the measurement of multiple proteins in a single sample. The arrays were originally developed for chemiluminescent detection, but select arrays can be adapted for use with near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence detection using the LI-COR Odyssey® Infrared Imaging System. To make this adaption an IRDye® 800CW labeled Streptavidin is used in place of the HRP-conjugated Streptavidin found in the kit. The resulting arrays are then scanned using the Odyssey Infrared Imaging System.

The R&D Systems Cell-Based Infrared ELISA kits include:

Molecular Targeting Technologies, Inc.

Molecular Targeting Technologies, Inc. (MTTI) is a biotechnology company primarily focused on the development of small molecules for the molecular imaging of diseases such as cancer and bacterial infections.

LI-COR Biosciences and MTTI have worked together to offer PSVue® 794, a near-infrared fluorescent prove for researchers who have the need to detect bacteria, apoptotic and necrotic cells, or other anionic membranes for in vivo or in vitro use. PSVue 794 binds to a variety of cell types that have negatively-charged phospholipids exposed on their membranes, including necrotic cells, Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, activated cells, tumor vascular endothelial cells, viruses, etc. PSVue 794 is available in a range of detection wavelengths, from long-UV to near-infrared and is suitable for high-throughput screening assays.

The fluorescent CellVue® cell labeling kits from MTTI are versatile, provide stable labeling with minimal transfer from cell to cell, and provide rapid, uniform membrane labeling. Additionally, MTTI CellVue kits are optimized for multiple wavelengths, including near-infrared fluorescence. The excitation and emission properties of CellVue Burgundy and CellVue NIR815 dyes are compatible with a range of commercially-available near-infrared plate readers, flow cytometers, in vitro and in vivo fluorescent imaging systems, and confocal microscopes.

Because of their properties, PSVue 794 and CellVue dyes, when used with a LI-COR Odyssey® CLx Infrared Imaging System or Pearl® Impulse, provide the researcher with valuable tools for a multitude of in vivo and in vitro cell studies using fluorescent membrane labels.
