Biotechnology LI-COR Plans European Subsidiary to Support Biotechnology DistributorsLincoln, Nebraska, July 6, 2000: LI-COR, inc. announces plans to open a European subsidiary. The office will help support LI-COR's network of biotechnology distributors in sales, marketing, and technical support. The office will be located near Frankfurt, Germany and will be operational by the fall of this year. "In conjunction with our corporate headquarters in Lincoln, the subsidiary will provide a means for additional, direct support to our biotechnology distributors," says Larry Middendorf, LI-COR president. "Customers will benefit from a closer relationship with LI-COR and its distributors and it provides the opportunity to expand support and services." Middendorf says future plans may also include support from the subsidiary for LI-COR's European environmental distribution network and product line. Steven Nyikos is the new European Operations Manager for LI-COR. He has over 20 years of management and sales experience in the biotechnology and analytical equipment industry. His experience includes six years with LI-COR in the U.S. and Canada. Nyikos has 10 years of international experience in the DNA and protein sequencing and synthesis area including extensive work in Latin America and Asia, and two years as a manager in Hong Kong. LI-COR is a leading developer of instrumentation systems for plant biology and biotechnology research. The company is the pioneer in the development of infrared fluorescence labeling and detection systems for DNA sequencing and analysis applications used in genomic research and discovery.
