Features & Benefits

  • Infrared Advantage

4300 instrumentation, software, reagents, and applications are all part of an integrated system designed to achieve the highest accuracy. Infrared detection is a key advantage since biological molecules, gels, and glass plates have little infrared fluorescence. With low background fluorescence, dye signals are clean and strong. Infrared detection gives 4300 DNA Analyzers excellent sensitivity.

  • Independent Detection

4300 DNA Analyzers feature LI-COR Biosciences' unique, two channel detection that eliminates errors due to fluorescence overlap. The fluorescence of the two IRDye® Infrared dyes are separated by 100 nm. Two separate sets of optically tuned lasers and detectors measure fluorescence from IRDye® Infrared dyes independently.

  • High Sensitivity and Wide Dynamic Range

Underloaded or overloaded samples are accurately detected because LI-COR images use more than 65,000 grayscales per pixel (16-bit) to display the wide dynamic range of the 4300 DNA Analyzer. Unprocessed fluorescence data are captured in TIFF image format for highest fidelity.

Rugged and Reliable

  • Two Highly Reliable Diode Lasers

The 4300 DNA Analyzer is designed for multi-purpose operation. In addition to being an excellent research tool, the 4300 DNA Analyzer is designed to meet demanding undergraduate training and research environments. Features such as diode lasers (similar to a CD player) make the instrument rugged and dramatically reduce maintenance and operation expenses. The instrument can also operate on demand after periods of inactivity without any expensive start-up costs.

  • Two Separate Detectors

As samples pass in front of the scanning laser/microscope, two solid-state avalanche photodiodes detect fluorescence. Optical filtering assures that each detector measures fluorescence from only one of the infrared dyes.

  • Two Real Time Images

A separate image (similar to an autoradiogram) for each IRDye infrared dye is collected in real time and can be displayed in an Internet browser or LI-COR application software (e-Seq™, Saga™, etc.).

Easily Adapts to any Lab or Network

The 4300 instrument contains a server that can operate either in a stand-alone configuration or connected to your network. An Internet browser or LI-COR Application Software can be used to start electrophoresis. The server software completely controls electrophoresis and data storage during a run. Two 16-bit TIFF images are stored on the 4300's server during a run. The 4300 System gives you maximum data access. Any computer can connect to the 4300 System via Internet browser or LI-COR Application Software (e-Seq, Saga, etc.). In a network environment, image data can be accessed from your office or over the Internet. Secure, password-protected server software assures that only members of your project have access to your data. The 4300 System is as expandable as the Internet. You can add all the capacity you'll ever need, without ever buying another computer. One computer can connect to any number of 4300 Systems to start runs or retrieve and analyze data.
