Coming from academia right after finishing his thesis, he experienced a smooth transition into industry at LI-COR. "LI-COR takes that academic environment where you are allowed to explore, learn, discover things, and it puts some structure to it. You are provided a very wide set of resources to learn."

"You have people with different backgrounds and you are working and sharing knowledge, trying to solve problems together. You have engineers and scientists, plant scientists, physics, and meteorology - all kinds of people working together on different problems. You get to learn from each other."

His idea of working in industry changed when he started working at LI-COR. "You get used to being in school and then your idea of industry is a fast-paced, cut-throat environment. This has been such a good learning process for me and I didn't see any of that. The environment is very well suited for learning and exploring."

At LI-COR, being available for customer questions, concerns or ideas is a top priority. "We talk to research scientists, engineers, government employees, professors in China, Spain, Israel - all over the place. We get to see where they are and what kind of research they are doing."
