"They go out of their way to make employees feel good and feel appreciated"

Hands-on work is what this woman likes to do, and being an assembler in the environmental product line manufacturing area is just where she wants to be. The 13-year veteran of LI-COR appreciates many things about her job.

Working an 8-hour, 5-day shift works best for her, and she is encouraged to do that even though others around her choose to work a different schedule. If need be, however, when she anticipates the need for some extra time away, she can flex to work 10-hour days to accommodate that need.

Flexibility is part of every day for her. Because there are many different instruments in the environmental product line, she says that affords more variety in what she does, "and allows more time to throw in a few different things," she says.

As an active participant in the company's wellness program, she enjoys the opportunity to be a part of a relatively new program, and she likes its focus on healthy lifestyles. "We don't have everyone on board yet," she says. "But we hope to meet everyone's needs as time goes on."

What she most appreciates about the company, though, is "how they go out of their way to make employees feel good and feel appreciated," she says. "I have worked at several different places, and this is very special."

She talks about fellow employees' willingness to help others, even outside the job setting.

"That is just a payback to how employees here feel they are appreciated," she says. "People are willing to give back, because of that. You don't feel pressured, but you just feel like, 'Okay, I can do that.'"
