Her career has shifted from teacher to learner. The former high school science teacher changed careers two years ago when she came from head of the classroom to LI-COR Biosciences.

The technical sales analyst for LI-COR's Environmental product line says the transition was made easy for her.

"I was given the time and the resources to learn the instruments and procedures at my own pace, and in the way that works best for me," she says.

It's the team system that made it so easy, she says. "No one looked down on me for asking questions. Everyone made me feel like part of a team, but an important part."

"I've never been alone in this," she said. "There's always someone to help, but they are also willing to step back and let me do things in my own way."

There was one surprise in her new career, and that was the amount of variety that awaits her arrival every day. "It's certainly not just answering e-mails and answering the phone!"
