Application Software Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW: Create, design, develop and test application software for LI-COR Environmental and Biotechnology instrumentation systems in a multi-disciplined, concurrent development team setting.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an engineering discipline with a heavy emphasis on Computer Science is required.

EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated development experience with C, C++, C#, and/or Java. Demonstrated creative design abilities developing Windows and browser based applications for instrument control, data collection, data analysis and display. Demonstrated abilities developing intuitive graphical user interfaces for configuring instruments and displaying data. Demonstrated ability to translate abstract logic concepts and ideas into software architecture implementations. Familiar with compilers and debuggers for code development. Familiar with version control and bug tracking systems. Experience with embedded processors and embedded software development is a plus. Image processing abilities are a plus. Experience with Linux is also a plus.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, develop, implement, test, debug, and document software solutions for instrumentation applications.

Mechanical Drafter I

POSITION OVERVIEW: Support Design Engineers by reviewing and updating 3D CAD models and 2D mechanical and process CAD drawings.  This includes reviewing and approving mechanical and process drawings.  Coordinate and generate engineering documentation for unreleased products and assist in the release process as needed.  Create bills of materials (BOM), generate new part number requests, assign drawing and process numbers, and facilitate the release of 3D models and 2D drawings.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: 

EDUCATION: Minimum 2-year Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, Computer Aided Design/Drafting or equivalent (ABET accredited program preferred).  Sufficient experience and professional training may be considered in lieu of degree.

EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated mechanical modeling (3D) and drafting (2D) abilities, and the ability to create and interpret mechanical drawings which conform to ANSI/ASME Y14.5M-1994, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).  Experience with CoCreate OneSpace Modeling, Annotation and/or Drafting (ME10) and Model Manager a plus

• Implement changes to existing drawings per CO’s (change orders).
• Create/maintain BOM’s (bill of material).
• Generate new part number requests and drawing numbers.
• Generate/track CO’s, and enter this information into the database.
• Research, evaluate, and organize part information as required.
• Research and gather part specifications, alternate vendor part numbers and specifications.

• Involved in producing research instrumentation.  May include mechanical and/or electronic assembly of scientific research apparatus by precisely following the instructions given in the form of written notes, pictorial diagrams, samples and verbal communication.
• May involve working with very small parts and using a microscope.

Electronic Technician II, Environmental

POSITION OVERVIEW:  Test and calibrate new sub-assemblies and completed instruments;  contribute in the development of test procedures, systems and standards;  perform tests and calibrations on instruments returned to LI-COR;  provide technical support and service to our customers as well as other LI-COR departments.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum two years Associates Degree in electronics or electronic technology or equivalent.
• Minimum five years in similar or related position
• Must show through academic records, testing or work performance a general knowledge and understanding of analog and digital electronics fundamentals.
• Must have an understanding of and an aptitude for learning physical principles related to measurements made with LI-COR equipment.

Technical Sales Consultant

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:  Responsible for selling Biotechnology products as assigned in the territory, acquiring and analyzing sales and market information, assisting in promotion efforts, advising management on market and sales strategies, and other job related duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:     MS or BS in biology or related field with a minimum of 3 years lab bench experience in a research laboratory.      

EXPERIENCE:

• 3+ years of proven successful field sales experience in high end capital equipment to life science and drug discovery researchers in academic and biotech/pharmaceutical companies – may consider related biological/analytical field sales support experience in lieu of direct sales experience.
• 3+ years direct experience preferred in selling products for applications in protein expression and/or image analysis.
• Familiarity with customer accounts in their region.
• Extensive knowledge of Proteomics research, techniques, and applications.
• Familiarity with sales people from firms whose products complement LI-COR products.
