Note about software versions: We are currently maintaining three versions of OPEN software (3.x, 4.x, and 5.x); one for each of the three possible hardware configurations that LI-6400s might have. This page contains the latest versions of these three versions; we recommend that you read the summary list of the known bugs here. This summary contains information about the various hardware and software configurations available, with an explanation of the known bugs, and the affected versions.
Instrument software installers
Windows

- This will install a Windows program that will let you update an LI-6400 with the 64 MB digital board to OPEN 5.x.
NOTE: OPEN Version 5.x software is compatible only with the new digital board. LI-6400's with serial numbers below PSC-1214 must upgrade the digital board to use OPEN V5.x. Click here for more information.
A patch program for Version 5.3 is available, which fixes two known bugs. Version 5.3.1 requires that Version 5.3 be installed. Patch program: Download version 5.3.2 here. 11/30/05 0.6M .
Download version 4.06 here. 6/24/05 0.9M - This will install a Windows program that will let you update any LI-6400 with the old digital board and 6 MB memory board to OPEN 4.x. This (or 5.x) is the version necessary for the fluorometer.

Macintosh
There is no Macintosh installer available for the 5.x version of OPEN.

File Exchange and Simulator/Control Software
The file exchange software below is used to download data from the LI-6400 to your computer. The simulator/ control software allows you to simulate the LI-6400 software on your computer to recompute data files, etc. It can also be used to control the LI-6400 remotely.

6400-09 Soil Flux Chamber Recomputation Software
SOILRCMP.EXE - Windows application for recomputing LI-6400 soil chamber data. Has a general purpose utility as well, beyond fixing the soil computation bug, since you can change insertion depths, etc.
A/Ci and A/Q Response Curve Analysis Software
Photosynthesis.exe 10/24/07 0.9M
This software eases response curve parameter calculation, improving interpretation and statistical comparison. It uses your response curve data to calculate compensation and saturation points, as well as efficiencies. It is useful for research and teaching applications to model the response curve impacts of parameter changes. In addition, the software will:
- Plot your data and show curve fits, while allowing you to adjust parameters to improve the iterations
- Import data directly from your raw LI-6400 files, or any comma separated data.
- Allow text file results (*csv) to be exported and used in Excel or SAS.
- Provide a useful tool for research and teaching applications to model the response curve impacts of parameter changes.
Insect Respiration Configuration Installer

For use with the 6400-89 Insect Respiration Kit, this software installs a configuration file
onto your instrument that, when selected, adds the Respiration Rate to the New Measurements screen to display insect respiration in units of µg CO2/g Insect/min.
