QA/QC of Large Datasets of Soil Surface CO2 Efflux Measurements

Large data sets collected by automated field instrumentation can be cumbersome to QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control). The following presentation demonstrates how the FV8100 data analysis software, provided with the LI-8100 Automated Soil CO2 Flux System, enables quick and easy quality assurance of soil CO2 flux data sets. Topics covered include:

  • What constitutes a "good" measurement? (11:05) View LI-COR Webinar or Download (13.1M)
  • Scanning and filtering large datasets to remove measurement artifacts, including a demonstration of how this is done using the FV8100 program. (8:00) View LI-COR Webinar or Download (8.8M)
  • Detecting infrequent, but biologically important outliers in data sets. (5:55) View LI-COR Webinar or Download (6.9M)

This webinar is presented by Dayle McDermitt, LI-COR Vice President of Science and Technology, with a software demonstration by Senior Applications Analyst Rod Madsen. Dr. McDermitt originally delivered this presentation at the "Workshop on Automated Soil Respiration Measurements" held in Durham, New Hampshire, USA, on September 10-12, 2007. The workshop was sponsored by the Terrestrial Ecosystem Responses to Atmospheric and Climate Change (TERACC) project.
