First of all, I want to thank the LiCor team for doing such a great job with EddyPro. It is a very nice tool.
I am trying to calculate the flux Richardson number based on EC data outputted from EddyPro. The problem is that EddyPro outputs u* and tau, but not bar(u’w’) or bar(v’w’) individually. One could assume that |bar(u’w’)| approx u*^2, but then we lose information about the sign of bar(u’w’). I agree that in most cases it should be < 0, but there can be cases in which bar(u’w’)> 0. Is that something you are planning to output in the next release of Eddy Pro?
Actually, you can already get those covariances from EddyPro, and you can also see how they get modified throughout the processing. Just select the “statistics” output files (in the “Processed raw data” section of the “Output Files” page of the “Advanced Settings”), at any level of processing that you are interested in, and you’ll find all relevant covariances (and much more) inside the eddypro_stats subfolder of the selected output folder. The “Level 7” of statistics are those used to computer fluxes, u*, etc.
