Turn Ons and Turn Offs

The LI-1400 Datalogger is often used for collecting environmental data using a variety of LI-COR Biosciences sensors. These include the LI-190 Quantum Sensor, the LI-192 Underwater Quantum Sensor, the LI-193 Spherical Quantum Sensor, and the LI-200 Pyranometer, among others. You can either program their LI-1400 to collect data automatically or set it up to collect data manually.

The LI-1400 has a power-saving mode to help conserve the batteries by turning off the instrument’s display screen. The LI-1400 enters the power-saving mode in one of two ways. It will automatically enter this mode after 15 minutes of inactivity or after the On/Off key is pressed.

It is important to note that while in power-saving mode, data is still being collected by any active log routines. This allows the LI-1400 to continue to run automatically without draining the batteries too quickly. To fully turn off the LI-1400, press the [Fct] key, then scroll with the left or right arrow key until the word “Shutdown” is displayed. Press the [Enter] key. Then press the left or right arrow key to switch from “No” to “Yes” to confirm the turn off. Press the [Enter] key again.

For more information on the LI-1400’s power saving mode and powering the LI-1400 on and off, see the LI-1400 Datalogger Manual (Section 2).

  1. I have a 1400 data logger. Is there a video or cd on how to operate LI-1400 like the LI-6400XT? We manage to input the multipliers for our quantum, pyranometer sensors but we did not manage to get our log data? FYI we tried to log data from 8 am till 6 pm, but when we try to view the data, the screen moves to view setup.

    Can you help us?

  2. Thanks for contacting us. There isn’t a video for the LI-1400, but if you don’t have the latest version of the manual, you may want to download that. It’s got some useful tips and tricks for setting up the LI-1400. If you’re still having problems, let us know and we can put you in contact with our tech support department or you can contact them directly at envsupport@licor.com. They’ll be happy to help.
