NEW! LEEF Bud Package

NEW! LEEF Bud Package

The LI-COR Environmental Educational Fund (LEEF) continues its commitment to undergraduate research by adding a new lower cost photosynthesis system package. The LEEF Bud Package includes the LI-6400XT Portable Photosynthesis System and is designed for institutions that do not require all of the applications and resources included in the LEEF Ecophysiology Package. The package can be expanded at any time, however, with the addition of a leaf…

New study finds residential lawns release more carbon dioxide than cornfields

New study finds residential lawns release more carbon dioxide than cornfields

A new study published in the Soil Science Society of America Journal found that more carbon dioxide is released from residential lawns than from cornfields. Researchers at Elizabethtown College used the LI-8100 Automated Soil CO2 Flux System to collect data that suggests urban heat islands may be working at smaller scales than previously thought. While heat islands are usually studied on large scales – such as comparing a large city and its surrounding rural areas – fewer studies have been…

LI-1600 End of Service

LI-1600 End of Service

LI-COR Biosciences has a legacy of designing and manufacturing robust field instrumentation with long operational lifetimes.  These long operational lifetimes couldn’t be possible without accessible and affordable factory service, skilled technicians and post-sale technical support.  However, it is now time to plan for an end-of-service date of March 31, 2014 for the LI-1600 and related accessories.  All service, including recalibration, will be discontinued after March 31, 2014.  Limited replacement parts will be available until our current inventory is depleted.  The LI-1600…

Fixed time interval logging with matching when using the autoprogram ‘AutoLog2’

Fixed time interval logging with matching when using the autoprogram ‘AutoLog2’

With the introduction of OPEN 6.2 there was a change in the autoprograms available on the LI-6400XT. The autoprograms in earlier versions of OPEN were replaced with more intelligent and flexible autoprograms. This new generation is contextual, reconfiguring themselves to reflect the current instrument configuration rather than relying on the user to select the right autoprogram for their active configuration. They expand the options available for defining when to match and offer extra flexibility in timing when data are logged.
