SDI-12 Sensor Inputs with the Sutron Datalogger

SDI-12 Sensor Inputs with the Sutron Datalogger

The Sutron 9210B datalogger records biomet data in LI-COR eddy covariance systems.  In addition to measuring analog voltage inputs, it can also record data transmitted via the SDI-12 communications protocol from up to ten sensors.  Programming a sensor with SDI-12 output requires an extra step—the sensor must be given a unique address.  In this example, we connect a Stevens Hydra Probe II soil moisture/temperature sensor to the datalogger.
1. Power on the datalogger, and connect to it with the…

Sealing the LI-6400XT Leaf Chamber Around Narrow Cylindrical Leaves

Sealing the LI-6400XT Leaf Chamber Around Narrow Cylindrical Leaves

The standard gaskets on the LI-6400XT leaf chamber work well to provide a good seal around a variety of typical broad-leaved plant material, and specialized gaskets are available to accommodate very thick or succulent plant material (thick gasket kit p/n 6400-37). However, with both the standard and specialized gaskets it can be difficult to get a good seal around narrow cylindrical leaves in the 1.5 to 3 mm diameter range.

Image A shows a 2 mm diameter wire clamped between…
