LI-COR Announces Lifecycle for its DNA Sequencing Instrument

December 30, 2013, Lincoln, Nebraska: LI-COR Biosciences announces the final phase of its successful DNA sequencing instrument product line. Production of the third generation Model 4300 is being discontinued while product support and reagent availability will continue.

“We will still be selling available inventory and providing support for current customers,” says Michael van Waes, acting product manager for genomics instrumentation. “In the established tradition for LI-COR instruments, we are committed to ongoing support for at least the next five years.”

“The LI-COR DNA sequencer line has contributed to fundamental genomics research since its introduction more than 20 years ago,” says van Waes. “It continues to be a proven platform for essential research.”

LI-COR used the experience gained with infrared imaging on its DNA sequencer to develop the Odyssey® family of infrared imagers and Pearl® Impulse small animal imaging platform. LI-COR now offers a digital replacement for film used in chemiluminescent Western Blot imaging called the C-DiGit® Blot Scanner. Additionally the company offers a full line of reagents, optical probes and imaging accessories.
