March 24 2011, Lincoln, NE: LI-COR Biosciences announces the release of its 2011 Products and Applications Guide. This edition features reference articles for Western blots and in vivo imaging. New products featured in the guide include the BrightSite line of small animal imaging agents.

The BrightSite line offers optical agents for in vivo imaging on LI-COR's Pearl® Impulse Small Animal Imaging System and other systems that use near-infrared detection methods. BrightSite Imaging Agents currently include: 2-DG, EGF, RGD, HA (hyaluronic acid), PEG, and BoneTag (800CW and 680RD).

"The BrightSite family of optical agents provides a ready-to-use solution for small animal imaging," says Jeff Harford, LI-COR senior marketing product manager. "These agents are especially useful for studies involving tumor progression, angiogenesis, metabolism and other molecular events associated with cancer research."

Included in the guide is "Good Westerns Gone Bad," an article that discusses how to optimize Western blots. The new IRDye® 650 and 750 Reactive Dyes can be used for optimized far-red and near-infrared fluorescence applications.
