LI-COR Collaborators Honored with 2010 Governor's Bioscience Award

April 16, 2010, Lincoln, NE: Lyle Middendorf, LI-COR senior vice president and chief technical officer and John Brumbaugh, professor emeritus, University of Nebraska, were honored with the 2010 Governor's Bioscience Award for their collaboration in developing one of the first automated DNA sequencing instruments. The award was presented at the Bio Nebraska Life Science Association annual meeting in La Vista, Nebraska on April 15.

Governor Dave Heineman presented the award noting that "more than 130 technology jobs have been created at LI-COR Biosciences as a result of this collaboration, which produced one of the first automated DNA sequencing instruments and resulted in equipment that is used in research labs around the world. Nebraska's bioscience companies are at the forefront of technological innovation. I'm pleased to join with Bio Nebraska in honoring the contributions of these individuals."
