LI-COR Unveils FieldBrite™ XT Technology in New Multi-Modality Imager
July 1, 2010, Lincoln, NE: LI-COR® Biosciences is now shipping its Odyssey® Fc Imaging System that combines dual-channel infrared fluorescent and chemiluminescent imaging in one system. The Odyssey Fc System uses FieldBrite XT, a patented new technology that provides 22-bit images with more than six logs of linear dynamic range. The new technology uniquely delivers lower background images over longer integration times.
"The Odyssey Fc is the first CCD imager that combines high sensitivity with an exceptionally wide linear dynamic range" say Margaret Dentlinger, LI-COR product manager. "For Western Blot imaging this allows both low-abundance and high-abundance targets to be easily detected and quantified on the same blot."
FieldBrite XT technology is a new advance in CCD imaging that achieves high performance without the need to supercool the camera. A patented filtering technology provides low total system noise for acquisition times of up to ten minutes for IR and one hour for chemiluminescence.
The Odyssey Fc System can detect Western Blots with infrared fluorescence at 700 nm and 800 nm plus chemiluminescence. Using the Odyssey Fc imaging system for chemiluminescence eliminates the need for a darkroom and film processing. The Odyssey Fc also handles multiplex Westerns, Gel Documentation, Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assays (EMSA), and other membrane and gel-based applications.
