[ABOVE]Maleimide reacting with a Thiol group

LI-COR IRDye® infrared dyes from LI-COR Biosciences are available for researchers developing applications using near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence. These unique dyes are currently used in a variety of NIR imaging applications including DNA sequencing, microsatellites, protein research, and small animal imaging. Maleimide chemistry is used to produce custom probes labeled with LI-COR IRDye infrared dyes.

IRDye maleimides provide the functionality for labeling molecules that contain free sulfhydryl (-SH) groups with IRDye infrared dyes. The reactive group of the IRDye maleimide allows conjugation reactions to be performed very efficiently at physiological pH.
