Factory Calibration

LI-6800 recalibration is recommended every two years for the console, head, and fluorometer chamber. Note that the gas analyzers drift very little during this time frame. The most important reason to return the instrument to the factory is for thorough system testing and maintenance.

What's included with LI-6800 recalibration?

A factory recalibration (6800-902) includes the following:

Calibration

  • H2O measurement calibration (6 points, 3 temperatures).
  • CO2 measurement calibration (>10 gas concentrations at 3 temperatures).
  • Fluorometer* (12 calibration factors are set).
  • Flow meter (7 different flow rates at 3 temperatures).
  • Pressure transducer.
  • Temperature sensors (chamber, leaf, analyzer, etc.)
  • Quantum sensors (internal and external, if requested, at additional charge).
  • LED source (if requested, at additional charge).

Tests and Maintenance

  • Test and verify fluorometer output.
  • Test CO2 injector for flow and stability.
  • Test chemical tubes for leaks, repair if needed.
  • Clean sensor head, if needed.
  • Change detector housing chemicals.
  • Check and repair any air leaks in the system (inform customer of leaks found).
  • Check chamber gaskets and chamber Propafilm™, clean or replace as needed.
  • Lithium coin cell batteries changed as needed.
  • Replace air filters as needed.
  • Replace hoses and other air supply parts as needed.
  • Upgrade software to the most recent version (user files should not be affected, but please download a copy of all important files before sending to LI-COR).
  • Other repairs and maintenance as needed; customers are notified if additional fees are required for repairs.

*Allow additional time for the fluorometer recalibration. Instruments not equipped with a fluorometer are recalibrated under 6800-901.
