Steady-State Gas Exchange Measurements

Achieving steady-state is a prerequisite for accurate determination of all the parameters measured by the LI-6400XT Portable Photosynthesis System. There is a common misconception that all one needs to do is clamp onto the leaf, hit the record button, and get accurate measurements. Wrong! Join LI-COR Senior Scientist Tom Avenson for a 20 minute experiment in which he demonstrates the importance of reaching a steady-state between your leaf and the environment before taking measurements. Dr. Avenson also demonstrates the change in photosynthetic parameters using measurements of various gas exchange signals after clamping onto a leaf.
