  1. Keep the belts clean. Belts may be cleaned with warm water and a liquid dish washing detergent. For minor cleaning, a cloth moistened with alcohol works well, as it dries quickly.
  2. Position the seams of the upper and lower belts so that they will pass through the head of the LI-3000C at different times.
  3. Offset the upper belt slightly from the lower belt so that the edge of the upper belt will not be directly above the edge of the lower belt.

Dust and debris in actual use will cause spurious counts to be higher. Under most conditions, the leaf area will be several orders of magnitude greater than counts caused by debris. Your application will dictate how clean you must keep the belts. Test criteria at the factory for spurious counts are a maximum of 0.03 cm2 in 30 seconds. You may wish to check the belts periodically for spurious counts. Remember to calibrate the LI-3000C before testing
